The Rock makes surprise appearance at Maple Leafs home opener

On Thursday, everyone at Scotiabank Arena was close enough to sense what The Rock was up to.

Actor and former wrestling superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made a surprise appearance at the Toronto Maple Leafs’ home opener, igniting the crowd ahead of their game against the Washington Capitals.

Johnson, one of the biggest movie stars of the past two decades, was in the house to “help” a Maple Leafs game show host.

When he came out of the tunnel wearing a Maple Leafs jacket, he let out a monster ” What’s new ? » to a cheering crowd.

“I had no idea (he’d be here). It was a TV break, I was minding my business a bit and I look up and The Rock pops up out of nowhere,” the Maples forward said. Leafs. Auston Matthews said. “He made the building work pretty well. It’s pretty cool to see a guy like that come through and obviously get the crowd moving. It was pretty cool.”

The Rock then left the crowd in a “Let’s Go Leafs” chant. The usual chant is “Go Leafs Go” but for The Rock an exception was made by fans.

Afterwards, Johnson, who is on tour to promote his new superhero film ‘Black Adam’, spoke enthusiastically about the experience of being around the passionate fans in Toronto.
