The original ‘Mighty Ducks’ stars loved flying together again

When The mighty ducks premiered in 1992, it was an immediate fan favorite. People loved watching a group of sassy, ââsmart kids deal with their less enthusiastic hockey coach Gordon Bombay – played by Emilio Estevez – and go from underdogs to champions.
The mighty ducks is summarized on Disney +:
Trial lawyer Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) never loses. But when he’s slapped with a community service mission, he has to coach a motley team of pee wee hockey players who can’t skate, can’t score, and can’t win. Reluctantly, Bombay takes on the mission and soon realizes that there are things more important than winning. Armed with this new attitude, feathers fly as Bombay and the Ducks battle for the toughest game of their lives.
The 1992 film was so successful that two more films were released after the original. D2: The mighty ducks was released in 1994 and D3: The mighty ducks created in 1996 to complete the trilogy. Estevez starred in all three films, alongside Vincent LaRusso (Doll house) and Elden Henson (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) like Fulton Reed.
Recently, LaRusso and Henson reunited with other stars from the original. The mighty ducks trilogy for the new Disney + show The mighty ducks: game changers, which premiered on Disney + on March 26, 2021. The new series stars Estevez, who is reprising her role as Gordon Bombay, and Lauren Graham (Gilmore girls) like Alex Morrow.
An official description for The mighty ducks: game changers said:
In today’s Minnesota, the Mighty Ducks have grown from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive and powerful youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow was unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mother, Alex, set out to create their own team of misfits to challenge the fierce, win-win culture of youth sports. today. With the help of Gordon Bombay, they rediscover the joys of playing just for the love of the game.
Fans of the original and new trilogy Mighty Ducks: game changers got a special surprise when they watched episode 6, “Spirit of the Ducks”. Members of the original ’90s Mighty Ducks team – Adam Banks, Kenny Wu, Fulton Reed, Les Avermans, Guy Germaine and Connie Moreau – all showed up to lend their support and advice to the new group of misfits.
Recently, Garette Ratliff Henson (Guy Germaine), Justin Wong (Kenny Wu) and Vincent LaRusso (Adam Banks) sat down with ComicBook.com to discuss how it felt to be reunited with their former team members.
Garette Ratliff Henson shared during the interview what it was like to be back, saying:
âYeah, it was really surreal. I wanted to do it, read the script, go to Vancouver, it was all exciting. But I think for me the real moment that seemed really unforgettable to me was when I put on that Ducks jersey for the first time, âRatliff Henson told us in an interview. âI remember, in the trailer, and we were wearing the hockey gear and I remember putting it on and grabbing my own reflection in the mirror, seeing that emblem and just thinking : ‘I can’t believe I’m wearing this jersey again.’ It was just so deep and really beautiful. It made me really grateful for the whole experience of being there again and being in these movies as a kid. “
What made filming the show different for the Ducks this time around was the fact that it was filmed in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it looks like one of them improved the experience of being back in the Ducks’ uniform for the first time in over two decades.
Vincent LaRusso shared:
âThat’s what made him really cool. Because, I think, without COVID, there is a silver lining there. Because without COVID, we probably would have flown for three days, and turned real fast and got back on a plane … But the fact that we have one up there and been quarantined for two weeks, then we have had this space week. And so it was still a lot of time together, but like Garette says, it was just fun jumping. We didn’t miss a beat.
While the shoot may have been unlike anything they’ve ever experienced, it’s great to see that the production was able to take place in a safe environment and that fans can now feel some serious nostalgia for the ’90s!
