the Nigerian Hockey Federation published a list of 60 invited athletes (men and women) and his team of coaches for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Hockey teams have returned to camp in Abuja for the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Accra, Ghana, January 17-23, 2022.

Nigeria hope to improve their position globally when they take part in the 11th men’s and 8th women’s African Cup of Nations after a successful exit from their clubs in the African Cup of Champions clubs which took place from 23 to 30 November 2021.

The participating men’s teams are Egypt, Ghana (host), Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa (defending champions) and Uganda.

The women will include Ghana (host), Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa (defending champions), Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The men’s team has two professional players (Tosin Fowobaje & Wale Ajibua) who practice their profession in Italy. The other guest athletes are from the National League team Kada Stars & Police Machine, which attended the Africa Cup of Champions Clubs last month.

The women’s squad is mostly made up of players from Delta Queens and Plateau Queens who have been the flagship of the African Cup of Champions Clubs, with few newcomers joining the fold to make the squad.

Baba Ndana Abdullahi will be in charge of the coaching staff.

The other guest coaches are Nuhu Jatau, Okwudili Menyei, Helen Nwakaego Otah, Marcus Izang and Oluyemi Siyanbola (goalkeeper coach).
