NHL DFS Analysis and Selections for 02/01/22
We’ll continue on the crazy slate from yesterday with a penultimate big slate before the All-Star break. Luckily, we’ll have a few more valuable points to exploit, which will give us some flexibility in building the roster. I will do my best to guide you through this exciting slate from 7 p.m. EST with many teams in top notch clashes.
We’ll have a plethora of back-to-back teams: Toronto, New Jersey, Florida, Ottawa and Vancouver. The Coyotes enter with the league’s second-worst goals against (3.66) when they travel to Colorado, while the Panthers hope to continue their dominating 4.07 goals when they travel to the injury-riddled Big Apple .
DISCLOSURE: The slate may not be the same on the face-off as it was on the draft due to COVID-19. Be sure to watch the news feed and play at your own risk.
Vegas odds for the day
NHL DFS Goalies
Juuse Saros – DK $8.1K || $8.2K
Opponent – Vancouver Canucks
There are plenty of options on a big list like this when analyzing goalkeepers. However, Saros stands out from the pack as a solid value game with great form. Vancouver sits at the bottom of the league in goals for – 2.41 – but they still keep shooting. They will, however, enter the second half of a consecutive streak and that will give Saros every chance to land the slate goalkeeper with his solid saves above expectations – 19.1 -.
Others to consider (cash/GPP): Lehner(DK $8.4K || FD $7.8K), Sorokin(DK $8.3K || FD $7.9K), Reimer(DK $8K || FD $7.2K), Hellebuyck(DK $7.8K || FD $7.6K), Vasilevskiy (DK $7.4,000 || FD $8.5,000), Forsberg (DK $7.1,000 || FD $7,000)
NHL DFS Centers
Mikko Rantanen-DK $8.2K || DF $9,000
Opponent – Arizona Coyotes
Rantanen will be a stallion on the slate anyway, but with Scott Wedgewood set to start for the Coyotes, that makes the winger making center an even stronger game. In Rantanen’s last five appearances, he has a 2-3-5 line with 14.0 shots. He hasn’t scored as much now that he’s playing a more supporting role, however, he’s still averaging just under 3.0 shots per game lately. Between his production and Arizona’s second-worst goal against the league — 3.66 — there’s a reason he has the third-highest salary at center slate.
Nolan Patrick – DK $2.6,000 || $3.9K
Opponent – Buffalo Sabers
Nolan Patrick has yet to live up to the potential he was drafted for and he is now in a prime position to silence the critics. With teammate Chandler Stephenson most likely still out with COVID-19, Patrick slips into the front row and remains in the best power play unit. Sitting at the bottom of the pay scale and playing between snipers Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty is a recipe for success.
Others to consider (CASH/GPP): Matthews(DK $9.2K || FD $10.3K), Bergeron(DK $7K || FD $7.5K), Dubois(DK $6.6K || FD $6.2K), Tavares(DK $6.5K || FD $8K), Lundell( DK$3.6,000 || FD$5.7,000), Coyle (DK$3.4,000 || FD$4.5,000)
NHL DFS Wings
Valery Nichushkin – DK $4.6K || $6.4K
Opponent – Arizona Coyotes
Nichushkin is still criminally undervalued below the $5,000 salary range. In his two games since being called to the front row, he has a 1-1-2 line and 6.0 shots. The former Dallas Star has only played a supporting role in his career, but now he has another chance to shine on the front line against the league’s second-worst defense.
Kyle Connor – DK $8.5,000 || FD$9.4K
Opponent – Philadelphia Flyers
Connor continues to lead the Jets in shooting and he also happens to be in excellent form with a 3-1-4 line and 26.0 shots over his last five games. The Flyers are bottom of the league in goals against — 3.33 — and the Jets are starting to rev their engines again. With linemate Cole Perfetti helping rather than shooting, Connor gets the puck’s attention.
Others to consider (CASH/GPP): Rust(DK $7.3K || FD $8.4K), Merchant(DK $7.2K || FD $9.2K), Forsberg(DK $6.2K || FD $7.8K), Marner(DK $5.7K || FD $6.8K) Stone (DK $4.7,000 || FD $6.6,000), Lee (DK $4.2,000 || FD $4.9,000), Marchment (DK $2.9,000 | |FD$5.4,000)
NHL DFS Defenders
Samuel Girard – DK $4.2K || FD $4.9K
Opponent – Arizona Coyotes
Girard continues to shine in a very talented group of defensemen with the Avalanche. However, his main chance is right now when he co-quarterbacks the best power play with teammate Nathan MacKinnon out. In the two games since his “promotion,” Girard has 2.0 assists, 1.0 shots and 4.0 blocked shots. Surprisingly, his individual offensive output went down and his defensive output went up. Nonetheless, he still has a great chance of reaching value below the $5,000 mark on DraftKings against a lackluster defense.
Noah Dobson – DK$5.5,000 || $5.8K
Opponent – Ottawa Senators
This man shouldn’t be below $6,000 on DraftKings. However, I have no problem enjoying the salary. Dobson has a 1-1-2 line in his last five appearances, which isn’t great. However, he has 21.0 shots and 13.0 blocked shots in that span. Dobson blindly hits his worth without points and it’s only a matter of time before his shot starts hitting the string. The Senators don’t have the best defense either, and Dobson continues to lead the power play.
Others to consider (CASH/GPP): Josi(DK $7.5K || FD $7.5K), Trouba(DK $6.1K || FD $6.1K), Giordano(DK $5.2K || FD $5.6K), Schmidt(DK $4.2K || FD $4.9K), Grzelcyk (DK $4,000 || FD $4,800), Salo (DK $2,800 || FD $3,800)
