Lyon midfielder agents left shocked by Arsenal pursuit of James Maddison
Following his team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League this season, Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar is reportedly available at a reduced price. However, despite having been linked relentlessly over the past two years with a move to Arsenal, the midfielder’s future is still uncertain – especially with the Gunners apparently keen to sign James Maddison from Leicester City.
That’s according to a recent report from The Sun, which claims that even though the Frenchman would be available for around £ 25million, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners remain keen to land Maddison.
Aouar, 23, has spent most of his career in Lyon after joining their youth academy in 2009.
Since winning the club’s senior first team, the 23-year-old has made 170 appearances in all competitions, directly contributing to 63 goals along the way.

Despite being named the club’s captain, Aouar, whose contract expires in 2023, is expected to move on, especially as Lyon’s finances have taken a hit lately.
The latest in the ongoing saga suggests that the player’s representatives were taken aback by the Gunners’ decision to sue Maddison.
Regardless of Londoners’ desire to land in Maddison, The Sun believes that Aouar is still hoping he can move to the Emirates this summer.
