On Saturday, dispirited Liberals didn’t get the riots or the Jan. 6 moment they were hoping for.

The violence did not come on Sunday either, as protests surrounding the truck convoy are in their second day.

These barbarians may not have rioted, they may not have stormed parliament trying to overthrow the government, but they put a Team Canada hockey cap on a statue of Terry Fox near Parliament Hill and someone pretended he was holding a sign saying “Freedom Mandate”.

It was enough to make liberal Twitter act like the world was upside down.

“Officials Denounce ‘Desecration’ of Monuments During Ottawa Protest,” headlined one Canadian Press story that unfolded with a photo of the Fox statue.

Desecration? It’s a bit much.

Stupid yes, profanation no.

Yes, but didn’t you see the people who danced at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier?

Of course I did. Several people sang, danced, waved Quebec flags while one danced on the grave.

It was revolting, I denounce that. As a resident of Ottawa for over 20 years, this is not the first time this has happened, and sadly it won’t be the last.

Such acts are still universally condemned, which is the good part, and after this video was released, the convoy organizers placed their own guards at the grave to avoid any further trouble and laid flowers in an act of respect. .

This is not how things go when progressives approach statues and monuments during a protest.

We apologize, but this video failed to load.

When statues are toppled, Liberals nod in agreement or remain silent. As they lament Nazi flags – always despicable and to be denounced – they say nothing as their supporters compare every conservative leader to Hitler.

They also say nothing when communist flags appear at progressive protests, despite the murderous and oppressive nature of this global movement.

In fact, Fidel Castro was praised by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who once said he admired China’s grassroots dictatorship.

You will forgive me if I do not want to take lessons on what is acceptable, in a demonstration or otherwise, from a movement whose leader defends church burnings as understandable – which Trudeau and his sidekick Gerry Butts have did last summer.

It’s not about whataboutism, defending the actions of the trucking convoy by turning away from what others have done.

I have no interest in the trucking convoy, but like many Canadians, I am tired of the Liberal double standards and the majority of our media letting them get away with perpetuating it.

If the violence and desecration of statues is wrong, why not speak out against them all, instead of verbally or silently endorsing some while fanning the flames of outrage in others.

If violence and destruction of property is still wrong, then be consistent.

The Trudeau Liberals love to hurl terms like racist, sexist and misogynist at anyone who opposes them, but they’re led by a man once accused of groping a woman who has worn blackface more times than he cares. remembers it.

The Liberals continue to call the organization for their major donors the Laurier Club, named in honor of Sir Wilfrid Laurier.

Laurier not only expanded residential schools, he increased the Chinese head tax tenfold, he signed an ordinance banning black immigration, and devised a policy with the young William Lyon MacKenzie King to keep immigrants from India to come to Canada.

He instituted the most racist immigration policy in Canadian history, and they honor him.

No one should listen to Trudeau and the Liberals about who is and who is not an acceptable Canadian.

Their record in the past on this front is deplorable, as is their judgment today.
