Lightning fans have received nearly $300 in fast food so far this season
Fans react after the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the New York Rangers 3-2 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs at Amalie Arena on June 05 2022 in Tampa, Florida.
Are you enjoying those fast food freebies after the Tampa Bay Lightning win? If you made it this year, it really paid off. How many? Let’s do the math.
A chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-A costs about $4.76 with tax. You earn one with every Lightning win at home. This happened 27 times during the regular season… giving you $128.52 in free chicken sandwiches. But that’s not all. The Lightning kept the promotion going to the playoffs, earning you an extra $33.32 in free sandwiches with all home ice wins.
Chicken sandwiches aren’t the only freebies. If the Lightning scores 4 or more goals in a game, even if it’s an away game, you get a free double cheeseburger (well, “Double Stack”) at Wendy’s. These sell for around $2.66 with tax. Take those 38 games when the Lightning scored those 4 goals, or shout out to the other team (allowing no goals), and you get $101.08 in free burgers. Add those playoff games and you’re adding an extra $18.62 in free burgers.
There are also other promotions. For example, you get half your pizza after a win. I didn’t count them since you always pay a little for your pizza. But if you add up all those freebies, your grand total in free fast food for this season…so far? $281.54! You might want to hit the gym. That’s a lot of fast food.
