Hockey is just around the corner! The Hurricanes announced their roster and schedule for their 2021 preseason and training camp on Tuesday night. Camp begins Wednesday with physical exams and a team meeting, and the first on-ice session is Thursday morning at 9 a.m. at PNC Arena.

The team roster is divided into two groups, Team Attitude and Team Energy. Thursday, Team Attitude will train first at 9 am, followed by Team Energy at 11. This is mainly the schedule for the first part of the camp, apart from a few days off, and, of course, the four days. preseason game with the first coming Tuesday, Sept. 28 against the Tampa Bay Lightning at PNC Arena.

The Hurricanes have a squad scrum set for Oct. 3, and it looks like they plan to be reduced to a single squad with one squad practice a day after that.

The team announced that the training camp is only open to fully immunized and masked members of the media.

The training camp roster includes 46 skaters and six goalies (both groups have yet to be announced). This training camp will become even more important with the number of new faces the Canes will add to their NHL squad: two goalies (Frederik Andersen, Antti Raanta), four defensemen (Brendan Smith, Tony DeAngelo, Ethan Bear and Ian Cole) and three forwards (Derek Stepan, Josh Leivo, Jesperi Kotkaniemi).

The training camp roster includes four members of the 2021 draft class in Bobby Orr, Justin Robidas, Patrik Hamrla and Bryce Montgomery.
