Hockey teams get off to a solid start | Republic-Times
The Freeburg-Waterloo Raging Bulldogs and Columbia Ice Eagles are undefeated early in action for the Mississippi Valley Club Hockey Association.
The Raging Bulldogs are 3-0 to start the season after recent wins over Triad and Bethalto.
On Monday, Freeburg-Waterloo won 11-2 over Triad. Logan Ganz scored four goals, with Donovan Knuckles and Shea Suedmeyer scoring two goals apiece.
The Raging Bulldogs topped Triad 50-16.
Last Tuesday, Freeburg-Waterloo won 8-0 over Bethalto, edging opponents 58-6.
Ganz scored three goals and two assists. Knuckles and Conner Blair have each scored twice.
The Raging Bulldogs take on Belleville on Thursday night at McKendree Metro Rec Plex in O’Fallon before facing off against Granite City in Granite City on Monday.
The Ice Eagles are 2-0-2 this season.
On Monday, Columbia won a 4-1 victory over Alton. Anderson Judy scored twice, Dean Lyon and Collin Schmidt adding one goal each. Tim Barbee made 17 saves in goal for the Ice Eagles.
Columbia tied Belleville 2-2 on Tuesday. Colin Cygan and Drake Ramage scored for the Ice Eagles.
Columbia won 6-2 over East Alton-Wood River on Thursday. Lyon and Nathan Carr each scored two goals in the victory.
The Ice Eagles faced Belleville on Tuesday night (result unknown at time of publication), face Collinsville in Granite City on Monday and face Alton in O’Fallon on Tuesday.
