After winning three consecutive overtime games, it’s hard to say the Buffalo Sabers are still rebuilding

When you look at the Buffalo Sabers in March 2022, they’re a far cry from the team that only won 11 games between November 2021 and February 2022. Add to the fact that they won games against teams and contenders in the playoffs, it gives the Sabers more credibility. that they have entered build mode.

No, things won’t always be so sleek for this still young NHL team. And it’s hard to call them a good hockey team just yet. They just have a good run and you can expect more by April 2023 (no, that’s not a typo). But we have to remember that they are still a team in transition.

The Sabers will let go of several key veterans this offseason and you can expect them to call up some young talent from the Rochester Americans on their bottom lines. Maybe some, like Jack Quinn, will see a bigger role in it.

Buffalo Sabers need to keep some veterans for reconstruction

Although the Sabers still need to rejuvenate and free up space to pay all the young talent once their initial contracts expire – or if they decide to sign them for extensions – it would be foolish for them to release all the young talents. key veterans. Some older players have expressed an interest in staying and they can provide exceptional leadership to a team that is among the youngest in the NHL.

Of course, the Sabers have to consider things like player salaries and the value they’ll get from those veterans. Chances are they will be substituted and placed on lower lines, seeing limited ice time in favor of the team’s young talents.

So who should stay for the long haul? Here are three players not only interested in returning, but three players who will also bring immense value to the Sabres.
